Welcome from the Chief Executive of the NHS Thames Valley
A warm welcome to NHS Thames Valley Integrated Care Board.
1 April marks an important moment for our local NHS, as we begin establishing a new organisation that will support 2.5 million residents across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire. Our role is to bring partners together, build on the strong foundations already in place, and make sure health and care services work well for everyone.
Our ambition aligns with the Government’s 10‑Year Plan for Health, which focuses on shifting more care closer to home, making better use of digital tools, and helping people stay well for longer through earlier prevention and support.
I want to be clear that patients and the public will continue to access care in exactly the same way as before. Your GP practice, hospital, pharmacy and community services remain unchanged. What will develop over time is the way services are planned and joined up, as we work together to improve outcomes and reduce the unfair differences in health that still exist across our communities.
Any future changes to services will be shaped by strong engagement with the people we serve. We are committed to working side by side with residents, Healthwatch, local councils, the voluntary and community sector and our academic partners. This includes offering a range of ways for people to get involved, through face‑to‑face conversations, community outreach, and digital engagement.
One of the easiest ways to stay informed and have your say is through Your Voice in Thames Valley, our online engagement platform. Here you can take part in surveys, follow projects as they develop, and help shape the future of local health and care. I encourage you to register and become part of the conversation.
As we move into this next phase for our local NHS, our commitment is simple: to work hand in hand with all our partners and with the people we serve. The challenges ahead, improving long‑term health outcomes, ensuring services are sustainable, and tackling inequalities, will require shared energy, collaboration and a clear, collective ambition.
We look forward to building on the strengths already in place, embracing innovation, and shaping a future in which everyone has the opportunity to live longer, healthier lives.
