We need your views on Non-Emergency Patient Transport Services in Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West
Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West Integrated Care Board (BOB ICB) is in the process of reviewing its Non-Emergency Patient Transport Service (NEPTS), to improve the experience of people who need transport to, from and between different NHS and health and care settings.
To do this, the ICB is re-procuring its non-emergency patient transport service over the next 18 months so that it can better meet the needs of patients who use the service and ensure excellent patient care.
What is NEPTS?
Non-emergency patient transport services provide free transport services for people who need to travel to or from hospital or a medical appointment but are unable to travel without specialist support. For example, for people with severe mobility difficulties or who need extra support during a journey.
Why are we re-procuring?
The ICB is re-procuring for the non-emergency patient transport service so that we can make changes to the current service and ultimately better meet the health and care needs of our population.
Our priority is to ensure that eligible NEPTS patients are transported in a timely, safe and efficient manner between their homes and the relevant NHS service. We are also keen to support NHS sustainability goals so that our new transport service benefits both patients and the planet.
We need your views
In redesigning our current services, it is essential for us to gather the experiences and insights of non-emergency patient transport users and their family / carers. This provides us with invaluable insight to identify new and innovative ways to review the service for everyone who uses it.
Engagement is now closed and an engagement report is currently being developed.
