UK National Screening Committee

Healthwatch Reading would like your help in sharing an important consultation with your networks.

The UK National Screening Committee (NSC) is an independent body that advises the Government and the NHS on health screening programmes. In 2025, the NSC reviewed evidence on prostate cancer screening and published draft recommendations in November 2025:

  • No national screening for all men regardless of age or risk profile.
  • No routine, targeted screening for Black men.
  • No routine, targeted screening for men with a relevant family history.
  • Routine, targeted screening for men with BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene variants every 2 years, from age 45 to 61.

The NSC is now seeking views on these recommendations through a public consultation. You can find full details here: https://nationalscreening.blog.gov.uk/2025/11/28/uk-nsc-opens-consultation-on-draft-prostate-cancer-screening-recommendation/

The Race and Health Observatory (RHO) wants to ensure its response reflects community insights and evidence :- Targeted prostate cancer screening - inform the RHO's response

We invite you as well as the communities you support to share:

  • Your personal or professional perspectives.
  • Any relevant evidence (articles, blogs, reports, etc.).

Please submit your completed form by Monday, 9 February 2026.

Your input is vital to shaping an informed response. Thank you for supporting this important work.
